transforming information
into knowledge
‘Between the wish and the thing the world lies waiting.’
Hi. I’m James.
I've spent years in the overlap between data and story, system and soul. Places where logic and imagination share a border. Places with roads which can only be walked alone, and not all of them paved.
I've analyzed, taught, built, and played. What I've learned is that the best solutions don't come from one direction.
You cannot change the world, but you can change your world. I still believe we all just want good things, and it is very human to get lost in assessing what we are and what we are not willing to trade for peace.
my services.
The time has been well spent. I'm halfway through a Computer Science degree, Google-certified in Data Analytics and Prompt Engineering, and still adding tools to the belt.
I have a natural sympathy for computers and a deeper one for people. Here's what I can do for you:
Find the signal buried in your data. Build systems that work.
Ideas are cheap. Execution is king. Your world deserves to breathe. I’ll show you how.
me.
Here are my strengths. I would like to let them work for you, also.
-
Find the right words.
Most people meet these ‘A.I.’ tools at their worst: party tricks, shortcuts, amusing noise. Used well, they're something else entirely. I learn how you think, what you need, and teach the model to meet you there.

Mechanics are a love language. Not everyone is fluent.
Three decades in. I've come to believe that when a player sits down with a system, they're in conversation with its creator; every rule a word, every choice a sentence. Design is not separate from story. It is the story.
I know the market, its gaps, and the experiences players don't yet know they're missing. Bring me your raw ideas. We'll make something that speaks.

Every project has a story. most of them go untold.
Data is not the destination - it's the terrain. Patterns, gaps, and quiet signals that most people walk right past. I specialize in reading that terrain and translating what it says into something you can act on.
The solution is already written somewhere in the data. Let's find it.

A world that isn’t alive isn’t worth visiting.
Years of dungeon mastering teach you something: the details that seem small are the ones that make a place real. The worn cobblestone. The god nobody prays to anymore. I build worlds where characters don't just exist, they belong, and the world knows it.
Fiction, setting, lore, narrative design. Bring me the seed of something. I'll help you grow it into a place worth getting lost in.

Some roads aren’t paved. You learn to walk them anyway.
I've come from places that don't make the resume. What they left me with - stubbornness, empathy, a particular tolerance for hard problems - those made the cut. I'm back in school, building things, making up for stolen time.
What I know cost something to learn. You don't have to pay that toll. That's the point.
some stuff i’m working on.

Efficiency isn’t about doing more. Its about doing less, better.
A working document on the art of intelligent idleness: how to strip a workflow down to what actually matters, automate what doesn't, and stop mistaking busyness for progress. Equal parts philosophy and practical guide.
Veil & Venture
A high-fantasy board game built for people who want their sessions to mean something.
The map reveals itself as you move through it. Hex by hex, region by region, an untamed world unfolding in real time. Quests emerge. Threats escalate. The monsters learn from you.
Characters grow through what they carry and what they practice, shaped by play rather than predetermined paths. And beneath the cooperative surface runs the Unveiled Fate system — hidden personal motivations that introduce just enough tension to keep everyone honest. You're working together. Mostly.
Inspired by the lush visual language of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, every session of Veil & Venture is alive, unpredictable, and entirely your own.
some stuff im working on (cont.)
A statistical analysis of two popular basketball teams, refined to a Summary Report fit for presentation.
A Table-top RPG I built for my frands. Part of our regular Tuesday night game. No full party wipes (so far!)
Game Design Doc for a Mobile game I’m currently developing. I’m determined to return the ‘idle’ to Idle Games. Incidentally I’m making a board game riffing off the same theme!
A data analysis of a Bicycle Share company, set in a presentation.
A brief scene I need to convert into a short-story. I’m very fond of my Hellions, though they are not quite so taken with me, or the struggles I have in store for them.
My unhinged rant review for WoW: The War Within.

Whether you're new to all of this or years deep into a vision that just needs the right set of hands, I'm here. The tools have never been better. Let's put them to work
